I’m sure we’ve all heard the header without knowing there was more to the popular saying than we’ve been told. At its core, this phrase highlights that there is value in keeping our interests and abilities varied.

Over time, I’ve learned that the key to my success is by broadening my personal interests and refining my professional skills, thus keeping my brain elastic and adaptable. From studying Biology and Deaf Studies in undergrad to pivoting to a Masters in Education, Leadership, and Policy Studies, concentrating in Higher Education Administration, I accumulated many transferable skills including data analysis, public speaking, the scientific method, and critical thinking that have since developed and refined my natural acumen and innate problem solving abilities.

Through my Development background at established private universities and schools, I gained proficiency in Event Planning, Fundraising, and strategic Marketing and Advertising. Through my background working for startups, I gained invaluable experience in what it takes to set up a business and build up contacts. Since then, I have utilized these skills to pivot to a freelance career with two years of experience in Sales, Consulting, and Bookkeeping, and I have my insatiable quest for knowledge and gaining new experiences and skills to thank for this.
